Discover the inimitable taste of the most famous wine of central Italy.
DANTE Sangiovese carries authentic Italian heritage. The Sangiovese vine is one of the most ancient and representative of the Bel Paese and of the its territory’s generosity. It is believed that already the Etruscans, over 2000 years ago, cultivated this sanguine grape to produce precious red wine. According to tradition, the name Sangiovese derives from the definition of “Sangue di Giove”, attributed to it by the monks of the Monastery of Sant’Arcangelo in Romagna. From the gentle landscape of the Tuscan hills, the cultivation of Sangiovese has in fact extended over the centuries to adjacent regions and throughout Italy, to the point of conquering a world-wide reputation. Even today, as in the time of the Etruscan kings, a sip of unblended Sangiovese evokes sunny landscapes, dotted with vines and olive groves.
Enjoy the wine produced as it used to be.
Despite being one of the most appreciated wines in the world, the Sangiovese roots remain well anchored in Tuscany. Right here, where it all began, DANTE has selected a Sangiovese local single-varietal wine worthy of unblended vinification. A wine that is grown and produced manually, mimicking the exact techniques seen in the fifteenth century’s countryside. The harvesting of its juicy and purplish grapes takes place strictly by hand, from late September to mid-October, and then proceeds with the vinification and refining in oak barrels. This yields a wine that preserves the knowledge handed down over countless generations and, nevertheless, always surprising and original. The particularity of artisan production, far from mass-production standardisation, makes every vintage unique and a marvel for the palate with every sip.
Pure Sangiovese: The true taste of a historical wine.
DANTE Sangiovese still has all the qualities of the original Sangiovese wine. Thanks to the unblended vinification and the careful single-varietal selection, the organoleptic qualities of DANTE Sangiovese are identical to those that enthralled the great poet. The dark berries of the grapes produce a brilliant ruby wine, with fruity and vanilla aromas: black currant, blackberry and wild strawberry. Hints of tobacco and a long finish of fresh wood, with notes of vanilla and peach pits, complete the aesthetic experience of this soft and full wine.
Single-varietal Sangiovese: A pure king at heart.
The choice to grow Sangiovese from a single-varietal local to the Tuscan territory seeks to rediscover all the richness of the original wine. Unblended and vinified the traditional way, this wine stands out for its exceptional quality, which respects all the nuances of the local grapes. The absence of yeasts and the very low sulphite content make it a salutary option.
