DANTE Foglia Tonda is a rare and sublime Italian excellence. The mysterious origins of this local single-varietal wine are lost in the mist of time. Its only historical reference dates from 1877, as Rovasenda documented its presence in the Castle of Brolio del Barone Ricasoli. Its cultivation was abandoned for about a century, since the excessive productivity of the vine prevented clusters from maturing. Today, the patient, exclusive cultivation in clayey soils allows you to savour again the full and full-bodied taste of this Sienese wine.

The passion for the territory and the wine tradition has allowed DANTE to recover the single-varietal Foglia Tonda in all its ancient splendour. For it is thanks to this dedication that the unblended Foglia Tonda returns to conquer palates and connoisseurs. The delicate cultivation of such a particular vine honours traditions and still proceeds today with artisan techniques. After maceration and alcoholic fermentation, the refinement takes place in French oak barrels and, like Sangiovese, takes Eight months in barrique and one year in tonneaux. Just enough to allow this precious wine to become full and round, very much like the leaves (foglia) whose name it bears.

Despite the recent rediscovery, the Foglia Tonda has quickly returned to the Italian oenological scene. This is largely due to its enveloping characteristics, which convey the pleasure of Tuscan tables. The intense and decidedly fruity perfume intoxicates with hints of quince, stewed fruit, cherry, strawberry, blueberry and fig. The full flavour, with fine and elegant tannins, offers an aftertaste of cherry pits. Tasting a glass of DANTE Foglia Tonda, with its bright ruby red shades, is a memorable journey of the senses.
